Venice LaWana Davis Pacini
October 21, 1927-July 5, 2010
LaWana Davis Pacini passed away peacefully on Monday, 5 July 2010 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born in Malad City, Idaho on 21 Oct 1927, she moved to the San Francisco Bay Area as a young teenager where she lived until coming to Salt Lake City in 2006. She worked until her only child Craig was born. Her employers included J.C. Penny’s, Shell Oil, and Magnins, where she was a high fashion model in San Francisco. She graduated from Galileo High School in San Francisco and received her Associate of Arts degree with highest honors from Cañada College in Redwood City, California in 1980. She enjoyed playing tennis both in college and in local tennis clubs winning many tournament championships.
An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served faithfully as a secretary in the Primary and Relief Society, as Ward Librarian, and as a member of her ward choir. She could also be seen at Education Week and Know Your Religion, always trying to improve herself.
She travelled to all the populated continents, most many times over, and especially enjoyed her many years of attending Wimbeldon as a spectator. In later years she enjoyed taking her family on trips to many parts of the world, especially when there were roller coaster rides that she could participate in. Now released from her earthly restrictions she can once again play tennis but this time on heavenly courts.
She was preceded in death by her parents (Clem and Venice Davis), her husband of 56 years (Roy) and a great-grandson (Joseph). She is survived by her son Craig (Julie); seven grandchildren Joseph (Rosalene), Aaron (Shalene), Jamie Carrier (Benji), Ashley, Brittany (fiance’ Chris da Silva), Benjamin (Laura), and Chelsea; nine great-grandchildren (Joshua, William, Kaylie, Christoper, Elizabeth, Brinley, Met, Amelia, and Wyatt; and a sister Connie Marsh. As Chelsea said the day before her passing, “Grandmother is going to be with Jesus.”
Special thanks to those who provided for her comfort – Cyndi Sheffield, Dr. Carole Baraldi, Brighton Gardens, and CareSource.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 17th at 2:00 PM at Larkin Mortuary (260 East South Temple in Salt Lake City) with a viewing an hour before and on Friday evening from 6 – 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hunstman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, UT are appreciated.
