So let it be written

Ashley text to Brittany:

I haven't blogged in a week. I have no desire to blog. At all.

Brittany text to Ashley:

Blog that!

A word to the wise

6/28/2011

My boss and a coworker were talking about getting drunk. My boss at one point looked at me and said, "I'd pay big bucks to see Ashley get drunk."

My response, "How much?"

Farewell

6/27/2011

See you in a few months, Charlye!

Play in the cemetery

6/26/2011

Cool air. Greenery. Costumes from the 1800s. The Spoon River Anthology put on at Brooklyn's Green-Wood cemetery.

Awesome.

Hudson Run: Part II

With a welcomed 67 degrees, I was able to do it again. Thanks to Lady Gaga.

It's all relative

6/22/2011

A coworker was printing some documents when the printer jammed. She ripped the paper out but a two inch square was left in. It became difficult to print after that.

Our IT guy took the printer apart and couldn't reach it. He had me come over and showed me the paper that was stuck but couldn't be pulled out. He had tried everything.

I thought it was hilarious how such a small amount of paper was creating such a big deal. I said that out loud.

He sternly looked at me, "No, it isn't."

I quickly went back to my desk.

Pros and cons to being a twin

I was asked the top 5 pros and top 5 cons of being a twin by a friend. I could only come up with two. Brittany's response was better.

Pros
1. No need for a mirrors.
2. I have more clothes options.
3. I know twice as many people by association.
4. People recognize me more often.
5. It's always a conversation starter.

Cons
1. I'm stuck looking like 'that'.
2. I cannot be disassociated from 'her'.
3. People think I'm their best friend just cause they know 'her'.
4. I don't know half the people who know me.
5. And it always creates awkward moments in conversations when I respond to the inevitable question 'what's it like being a twin' by saying, I don't know, answer me this first: what's it like being ugly? You don't know the answer to that cause it's always how it's been. It's normal for you.

Getting ready for Part II

6/20/2011

In preparation, I visited the Harry Potter Exhibit. Now I'm even more excited for Part II to come out.

(Photos aren't allowed in the exhibit so I stole these from the internet)

Thanks to Netflix...

6/19/2011

Netflix has an array of things to watch. I really enjoy the Television shows they have on as they are shorter than movies so don't take up as much time. But, I can stay interested by watching an episode here and an episode there.

One such show I watched is Drop Dead Diva. The second season premiered tonight.

So, thanks to Netflix, I have now changed mediums from internet streaming to watching the show when it is first broadcasted on Television. What an ideal consumer I am...

Sports Night

And I've found yet another Aaron Sorkin show on Netflix that I am addicted to...

It only took me a week to get through the first season. It took that long because for two days I was not able to stream it due to a Netflix glitch.

The Frying Pan

Dinner. Outside. On a boat. On the water.

Amazing.

Nostalgia

6/16/2011

Last week I had an experience that has stayed with me. For the entire week. And I have proof of the experience.

There is a first for everything

6/15/2011

There is no laundromat close enough to my apartment for me to do it. So I call out for it. But, I decided to do it, just once, to say that I did my laundry in New York. Pictures were taken to celebrate. Including the ride in the taxi.

East Coast Time Zone

6/11/2011

I always look forward to when Brittany is on the East Coast so our hours are more similar.

I would be more if she emailed me.

Paperless

6/10/2011

Our office is going paperless. This means we are trying to avoid any type of paper forms. This includes scanning checks and digitally depositing them.

This also includes me working yet another machine. The person most technologically-incapable.

Well, at least it gives everyone a laugh in the office.

Prepping for CA

I went on a run this morning on the Hudson. Let me emphasize this MORNING.

OUTSIDE.

BY THE WATER.

RUNNING.

Probably the best run I've had in awhile, if not ever.

Wrong Number

6/8/2011

We had another person call for the Garden of Eden. I was ready this time. I responded, "yes, this is the Garden of Eden. Eve speaking."

Yo-Yo Ma vs Mr. Wong

6/7/2011

I went to see Yo-Yo Ma at Central Park for free but didn't get into the venue as their were so many people.

That's okay, though, 'cause Mr. Wong was just as entertaining. See, Mr. Wong is a professor at either Columbia or Julliard. He was seated on the Subway when I got on and sat next to him. A white-American family with two girls in their twenties got on and the mom recognized Mr. Wong and started chatting with him. In Chinese of course. After a while the Mom introduced her daughter Chelsea to Mr. Wong, who then said he would help Chelsea find a job or internship. Everyone was elated.

After a stop or two they got off and it was just me and Mr. Wong. He turned to me, pulled out a pamphlet from his briefcase and gave it to me. It was for a Chinese dancing performance at Lincoln Center (that actually really looked cool).

So, you see, even though Yo-Yo Ma and I couldn't spend time together, I was able to spend time with Mr. Wong.

Definitely quality time also.

I've always wanted to see their office...

6/6/2011

We have a client who's office is on the corner of my street. I have had a desire to see what their office looks like. Today I got the chance. I had several things to send to them and it made sense to drop it off myself on my way home rather than call a messenger.

Too bad they had a receptionist that took anything for the collective office. Including theirs.

Me vs Mango Sorbet

The Sorbet won. I even have the cut and drawn blood to prove it.

I'm pretty sure I caused a car accident

6/4/2011

As I was walking, I noticed the sun going down to the West. I had to take a picture.

Literally seconds after I took this picture two taxis were in a fender bender in the intersection in the picture.

Subway experience

While on the Subway I read the newspaper over the shoulder of a lady. She was reading an article called "Upper East Side Heat Swoon: Death fall on subway." The location of the picture was 77th and Lexington.

And that was the stop I was to get off at.

P.S. In preparing for this blog I typed the title of the article and the location on my phone. I did it in a text to Brittany because that was the easiest and quickest program I could open. I asked her to email me the following:

Metro paper. Today. Upper east side heat swoon. Death fall on Subway. 77th and Lexington.

Her response:

Please tell me that wasn't a suicide note.

P.P.S. Add in that when I got off the Subway, there was the Lenox Hill Hospital Emergency Entrance.

I never knew 77th and Lexington would provide so much drama in my life.

While at the gym...

6/2/2011

An episode of SNL was on. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler did the weekend update. Bush was still president and Anna Nicole Smith was still alive.

I tried for the life of me to figure out where I would have been. And then they did a story on the Olympics in Torino getting ready to end.

Thanks, Tina and Amy, for reminding me that I was in Italy the weekend the episode originally aired.

Good times.

Good times.

Waking up

6/1/2011

I randomly woke up at 5:45 am. The sun was out. My first thought was, "is this what it feels like to live in Alaska?"
