Summer Time

Exactly two weeks ago I posted a blog about taking walks now that it is Spring.

Update:

Walks are once again horrendous thanks to the heat.

I love (hint the sarcasm) that Spring is so short in New York.

Memorial Day

5/30/2011

In celebration of the Holiday I had hoped to kiss a sailor.

Too bad there were no sailors around.

Not even in Time Square.

Sigh.... Maybe next year.

Being Prepared

I wasn't sure if the Bishopric was planning on me teaching Sunday School today. We are starting on Temple and Family History and had yet to make an announcement in church. For some reason, though, I felt to prepare a lesson anyway.

One of the bishopric came up to me after sacrament and asked if we could start the lessons next week as a lot of people were out of town. I was just fine with that. So I went to the large Sunday School class instead.

And then I found out there was no teacher for the large Sunday School class. The same bishopric member asked me if I could teach.

Good thing I prepared a lesson. Although my lesson was specifically for six individuals.

Adding an additional 25 wasn't that much more of a difference I suppose...

This blog post not appropriate for my family members

Thanks to Zombie Night Part 23, I found out who is part of Seal Team 6.

Good to know

5/27/2011

Metrocards expire.

Even if they have money still on it.

What a relief

I'm so glad all the season finales have taken place. I can get back to feeling no pressure of missing an episode.

Change in routine

5/25/2011

My coworkers and I are positioned in such a way that our four decks are behind one another. Mine is in front so everyone faces my back. This allows my coworkers to really take in the back of my head.

And my hair.

My coworker asked if I changed my shampoo. I did. Thanks to my mom. Who left her shampoo here after she and Chelsea left.

Apparently my hair is more shinny and has more volume.

Thanks, Mom!

A walk on the Hudson

It is finally the time to start the walks again.

Hello, Spring in New York.

A ringing in my ears

5/23/2011

Around 5 o'clock someone hit the alarm in the elevator.

It kept going until I left work.

At seven.

Ugh.

Doomsday: Part III

I'm still here.

And, so are you.

At least I got three blog posts out of it...

Doomsday: Part II

Happy Doomsday.

See you tomorrow.

Doomsday: Part I

5/20/2011

I decided to get caught up with my blog posts in preparation for the end of the world.

Catch Me If You Can

5/19/2011

We went to Catch Me If You Can. Luckily for us, Frank Abignale, Jr. came out after for a talk-back.

Here he is handing me my newly-autographed Playbill.

Commencement

5/18/2011

Only thing to do when in line and waiting for commencement to start: take pictures.

So much purple...

Empire State Building

5/17/2011

The Empire State Building shines white and purple for NYU graduates every year around graduation.

Thanks to the weather, the sky was just purple.

I Graduated. You may now call me Master Ashley.

5/16/2011

I turned in my final paper.

Go me.

And Brittany.

Mom and her great timing as all the graduates names were scrolling.

Thanks to Mom and Chelsea for coming to celebrate with me!

Best Friend Test EVER

5/15/2011

Thanks to Charlye, she gave me her ticket to SNL. And, I got in! I love Ed Helms, the show was great, and Paul Simon gave us an extra song after the show ended, something that never happens.

It was amazing. Thanks, Charlye! I seriously owe you. Again.

Cable Installed

My roommate got cable. She is in heaven. She said it is like Christmas Day.

I'm still working on my paper. Not really Christmas Day for me.

Your phone got hacked

5/13/2011

Brittany forwarded me a text that she received for a free tan with a link to a facebook page. She wanted me to see how great the marketing was.

I thought someone hacked her phone and started sending spam texts.

Is that even possible?

Almost like a bad dream

Our office is in a building of 18 floors. You can find graphic designers, law offices, fashion houses, and even a dentist office amongst the array of professionals. Each time you stop on a floor it is apparent which profession belongs to which floor.

The dentist office is on the second floor. Upon the elevator doors opening, patient files tile the back wall while receptionists answer phones and check patients in. The drills sound and the smell is, well, you know the smell.

I'm always so happy when the elevator doors close after the second floor.

Stats on Blogspot

I realized that you can check your stats on how many page views and locations of where people are that view the blog.

Thanks Brittany, for being an avid fan.

New roommate

My new roommate moved in. I think it will be great but I was worried about one thing: my Internet connection name. Basically, I forgot the password to change it so it has to stay as Hogini (Hogan and Pacini mix). Sigh.

Oh wait, my new roommates last name is Hogan as well (no relation).

I got lucky on that one!

Why Mormons don't drink coffee

Yesterday I saw "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" and absolutely loved this song.

*I couldn't find an actual clip from the Broadway musical online so this will have to do. Hopefully you get the idea.

P.S. Daniel Radcliffe did a great job as J. Pierpont Finch.

One more thing checked off.

5/7/2011

In March I had to take a comprehensive exam as a requirement to graduate. I was given five questions and had to choose two. I had a week to write 10-15 pages for each. You may recall that I began the process while at home for Brittany's wedding.

I got my results back.

I passed.

Oh, so close...

Still sick...

5/6/2011

But, it's okay because everytime I pop a Halls drop, I get a pep talk.

They certainly got my attention

Too bad I don't drink coffee...

Efficiency

5/4/2011

I like to multi-task. This includes while working.

For some reason it takes forever to load and print PDF files. It could take several minutes depending on the file.

I had to print a 70 page document. I was also hungry. So, I hit "print" and ran out and grabbed lunch.

Even though it took me a few minutes to get lunch, I still made it back in time to pick up the last pages that were finishing up printing.

And that, my friends, is efficiency.

It's about time!

Done. Last class of the semester done.

This was officially my last class as a master... I mean, NYU student.

Sigh...

Being sick

I'm almost over whatever I have. But, of course the final stage is waking up with no voice.

And no ability to taste.

I would really like to taste again. Oh, how I enjoy the taste of food.

Unprecedented-Redeeming a Friend Test

4/30/2011

"Friend Test" is a term I have started to use, thanks to Cougar Town, a show I was introduced to by T. I quite enjoy the show as it has funny moments and great lines, including "Friend Test" from a few weeks ago. The term, when spoken to a friend, requires the friend to be absolutely honest and forthright in the question or favor about to be asked. I have instructed, and almost used a "Friend Test" a few times with various people, including Charlye.

Today, out of necessity, I had to use it.

See, I get paranoid with my keys. Living alone, especially, I have worried as to what happens if I lock my keys in my apartment. Because of this paranoia I either have friends who have a set of keys or I have a set of keys at work. The idea is so I can have keys accessible if I lock them in my apartment.

Which, of course I did today. (Mind you, my new roommate is moving in next weekend so, of course, it had to happen the week before I wouldn't need to use my back-up plan of "Friend Test"ing.)

I had been out all day and must have moved my keys to another bag without realizing it. When I was on my way home I went through my purse to find the keys and they were not there. I panicked. I was running on a tight schedule and needed to get into my apartment. And, I didn't have my pass to work and with it being the weekend, there was no way to retrieve my pairs I have left in my desk.

So, I "Friend Test"ed Charlye.

And, of course, she came through.

Thank you, Charlye. Feel free to redeem a "Friend Test" with me at any time.
