Dear Gayle,

Thank you for the therapy session.

Another twin conversation

3/30/2011

Brittany:

I was thinking, I like the idea of becoming your consultant. We both know I will. As you are a producer you'll get a lot of stuff that you'll have to make a decision on: Which scripts to accept, which actors to select, etc. It'll be nice cause I'll have an indirect part in that. Ultimately things are your decision, but I know you'll come to me for some advice so I'll still be involved with the industry but indirectly. Remember, you are Oprah and I am your Gayle. Although if they start making gay jokes about us then that would just be awkward. So I like the idea of consulting. :) I'll be able to read scripts and make suggestions on whether to take on projects or stuff like that. Good plan is good plan.

Ashley:

Good plan is good plan. Especially the part where I'm Oprah and you are Gayle.

Brittany:

Of course you're Oprah. You're single. Gayle was married before.

Ashley:

Ahhhh....

Brittany:

But don't worry. Oprah's living with a man and Gayle's divorced and alone. So you'll end up coming out on top in the end.

Good Morning to me.

My boss asked me a question right when I got into work. Upon answering my boss asked, "are you sick?"

My response, "No. I'm still waking up."

A day in my life

2/28/2011

I went to the opening night of The Other Place staring Laurie Metcalf (she was absolutely phenomenal).

I also saw Haley Joel Osment.

The two are unrelated.

Ugh...

3/27/2011

I have nothing to write because its too cold to do anything. It is the end of March and it is in the 30s.

When will spring be here?

Zombie Fest Part II

3/25/2011

Last week me and some friends got together to watch The Walking Dead, a new Television series about Zombies. We watched all six episodes of the first season.

We were so into it that we decided to follow it up with Zombieland after. Needless to say, it was a late night.

Tonight we decided to do Part II: Dawn of the Dead followed by Shaun of the Dead.

Pretty sure we are going to do a Part III which will include 28 Days Later and Planet Terror.

I didn't realize I was so into Zombie movies.

Subway Rule

3/24/2011

I buy a "pay-per-ride" ticket when using the subway. I don't spend enough time on the subway to buy a monthly pass as I generally walk to work and school. If I'm out and about I will only take the subway if I am at least two stops away. I can't justify taking the subway if it will take me less time to just walk. But, I still always walks to work even though it is two stops away. It's my rule as it takes less time than waiting for the subway. (I live on 25th street. There is a subway stop of 23rd street at 28th street and my work is on 35th street where another stop is.)

I had an appointment today before work on 22nd street. Generally I walk to work but I went against my rule. I used the stop on 23rd. The two extra blocks were apparently too far for me to walk that I justified paying $2.50 for a two stop trip.

Confused from the chaos

3/23/2011

I'm still trying to get caught up with stuff at work. That includes calling several people for information about various things from needing commissions reports to needing company identifications information. And, it takes me a few tries to get through to the people I need to speak with.

As I try to contact them, however, I get confused with who I am calling and what I am asking for.

There were three people I needed to contact this week. Two for identification numbers and one for a commission report. I called all three several times.

I finally got through to one person, getting the information I needed in regards to the company information while working on other things. I pulled up the website where the other number was and called to get the company information. But, when I asked for the business department they seemed very confused. It took me a second to realize I was calling the wrong company for the information. So, I quickly changed mindsets and spoke to the person about the commission report, the reason why I called this company.

Good thing I realized my mistake. Otherwise it would have been a pointless and/or frustrating phone call for all involved. And, I was actually able to get the information I needed.

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

Uhhhh...

We received a package today at work. I generally open the mail and give it to the person who handles it. But, this particular package confused me.

There was nothing in it.

All's right in the world

Brittany is back at work. I'm back at work...

Back to normal life.

Sunny California

3/20/2011

I will officially be moving to Orange County come the end of August. I will be attending Chapman University for an MFA in Film and Television Producing.

Yay, even more school.

Zombies

3/19/2011

There is a benefit in having a large TV and a comfortable sized apartment in which to watch things: my friends come to me.

Today's excitement included watching all six episodes of The Walking Dead followed by an impromptu screening of Zombieland.

I quite enjoyed myself. I never thought I'd say that about zombies.

Saturday, March 19, 2011

You are welcome, Spring, with open arms.

3/18/2011

I have been locked up in my apartment for the last two days, literally not leaving, to finish my exam.

It is done.

Congratulations to me.

In so doing, I decided to walk to campus to drop it off. The weather was gorgeous! It was warm enough that I took off my sweater.

Welcome, Spring time. Welcome to New York.

Heaven

3/17/2011

March Madness.

Plus, a 55" TV.

Nuff said.

Red-eye

3/16/2011

I like jetBlue. But I feel as though I pay for the services they offer via my ticket, including my one free baggage and the free individual TV on the plane. So, when my TV doesn't work and I have to actually watch a movie on my iPod, I feel a bit gypped.

Good thing the flight was less than four hours.

This is for you, airport security man.

3/15/2011

Had to fly back to New York. In so doing, I went by way of the airplane. Upon showing my ID (I renewed it in 2009) to the security guy before going through security, he said, "I see you are growing your hair out. You look good with long hair."

I am no longer hesitant about growing it out.

Absolute Perfection

3/14/2011

Day after festivities

3/13/2011

Brittany and Chris opened their wedding presents. I realized that maybe doing a traditional wedding instead of eloping is worth it afterall. Hmmm...

Congratulations Brittany and Chris

3/12/2011

Remember that one time I was on my mission and two of my siblings got married so I didn't have to participate?

Good times.

Good times.

Comprehensive Exam

3/11/2011

Of course Brittany had to plans things such that I would be home for her wedding when I was to take my comprehensive exam, an exam I have to pass to graduate.

Here's to stress.

Flying

Arrived in Salt Lake City for my sister's and Chris's wedding.

Flew on JetBlue (where your first piece of luggage is free).

Also, I got DirectTV which actually means that I got stations that I generally don't watch. Like MTV.

I've never been more intrigued with Teen Mom 2 and The Real World: Las Vegas.

Si!!!!!

Getting what you wish for

3/8/2011

I like to have fruit and carrots while at work. But sometimes I forget to go shopping.

I was so happy when I was walking to work and a fruit vendor was strategically placed on the corner by my office. He had never been there before.

It was as if the fruit and vegetable gods knew I needed to buy fresh food that day.

Fashionistas

3/7/2011

Our office is next to the offices of Nanette Lepore. Nanette Lepore owns several floors of the building so it happens regularly that I will ride with workers going from one floor to the next on the elevators. They will comment on each other's clothes, all wearing Nanette Lepore of course. The coat she was wearing was last year's while she has one the newer coat in purple... Also, they all wear 6-inch heels.

Now, contrast that with thoughts of those working for a business manager. Your thoughts on that are probably pretty accurate as far as style is concerned on our floor.

Being domestic

3/6/2011

I decided to be domestic and actually make dinner tonight being that is is the weekend. I don't seem to find the appropraite time during the week to cook. But, let's make something clear: when I say dinner it means open a frozen container of meatballs and put some frozen asparagus in with it and stick it in the oven while making biscuits from a mix.

That being said, I don't cook often so I don't necessarily have the tools to do so. That means I only have one pan to cook biscuits in the oven with AND to use to cook the meatballs and asparagus.

Needless to say, I learned that it is best to cook them separately.

Online discounts

3/5/2011

Fandango had a special. Two tickets for $9.00. Such a good deal.

Decided to use it on "The Adjustment Bureau."

Glad I only spent $4.50 on it.

Lunch time

3/4/2011

A coworker and me sometimes order lunch in. We use an online website and trade off with who pays. It has gotten to the point where we both know what we will will both get so the amount is the same.

So, we have a $10.00 bill that we pass back and forth. Whoever has it pays the other while she buys the lunch that day.

It's a pretty cool system.

Spring Day

3/3/2011

It seems that since the month changed, the weather decided to change along with it. Because of that, I am making slight changes in my clothing. That includes wearing flats instead of boots.

And, as any girl knows, flats don't stay on when you are sitting down, in an office, looking at a computer.

What some girls may not know, however, is that it is extremely difficult to find your shoes, put them on, all in a timely manner to open the door of the office as the office door remains locked.

So, when I went to open the door and the lady looked at my barefoot feet and said "I'm jealous," I couldn't help but laugh.

A random text conversation between me and an unknown number

3/2/2011

Unknown number:

I'm sending this off the record, but that email you just forwarded is total bullshit.

Unknown number:

Why hello Ashley! I just texted the wrong Ashley. Now that is embarrassing!!! Whooooosps!

Unknown number:

But as I'm sure you can tell, the topic was juicy!

Me:

No worries ;) Only problem is, I don't recognize your number... My phone deleted all my contacts a few weeks ago...

Unknown number:

Haha, well now I don't want to confess! It's *Martha. :)

Me:

Martha! Well, I'm slightly embarrassed for not knowing it was you... How about we call it even;) It sure game me a laugh, that's for sure :)

Martha:

I have never done that! So embarrassing. I work with an Ashley.

Me:

Seriously, it made my day and it was a pretty good day already :)

*The names have not been changed for purposes of this post.

And, I'm really curious about the email Ashley forwarded...

40 hours of Pandora. Again.

3/1/2011

New month.

Back to my 40 hours on Pandora.

Without the 99 cent special that made listening amazing as I could skip any song.

Sigh.

Brittany's outlook on marriage

2/28/2011

Brittany and I were joking about the wedding reception. I told her I had no desire to have one as the thought of planning everything makes me stressed out, even though I have no need to think about it. She told me that it is worth it, if for anything, for the money.

She said she is a business woman. Marriage is her first business venture.

The Switch

2/27/2011

Being that I was staying with a family, I went to the family ward. The Relief Society lesson was taught by a beautiful woman, 9-months pregnant. She was literally having 7-8 minute contractions during the lesson. They were steady, though, so not a huge concern.

But I was nervous while she was teaching.

Mainly because my friend sent me this video he made. I couldn't help but think of it while she was teaching.

Brittany's view of Love

2/25/2011

Brittany sent me the following in an email. I felt it appropriate to share:

Brittany’s view of Love

Nothing says love like sharing a virus.

Chris went to the doctor and was diagnosed with the adenovirus. I woke up with a horrible headache and I can feel a little something developing in my throat - the initial symptoms of the virus.

He's at the end of it and I'm just getting it. It'll take 7-10 days to pass.

Phew, just in time.

Needless to say, I'll be inside all weekend taking it easy so that it doesn't get worse.

I get married in 14 days.

Tasks while at work

2/24/2011

There are few things I have a hard time getting motivated for at work. But, those few things need a bit of time from my end to process what I need to do, especially if it is an overwhelming project. So, a few weeks ago when a client called about looking into insurance, I was relieved that he only needed some information from us as he wanted to see if he could find cheaper insurance.

I wasn’t surprised, and a bit overwhelmed, when, a few weeks later, the task landed on me. I was happy to do it. It was just a matter of figuring out where to start.

Needles to say. I got it figured out. We found some cheaper options for him. But I had to laugh that I ended up doing what I had hoped I didn’t have to do…
