I stayed with my brother and his family last night and decided to go on a run before the wedding. I asked where I could go run and my sister-in-law said that there is a lake close by with a trail around it. I thought that sounded nice so I grabbed my water and iPod and started running.
I figured that with it being a Saturday morning there would be other runners. So, when I arrived at the trail I wasn't surprised to see others running.
It was a few minutes later that I realized that they all had numbers pinned to their clothes.
Thirty minutes later I turned the corner and realized I was steps away from the finish line.
I have never run a race before. But I felt like I had a pretty good idea of what was included in a triathlon.

Walking
5/28/2010
I am use to walking in New York so I thought it would be fun to walk to downtown Salt Lake today from my parents house. I forgot about one important aspect of Salt Lake: Hills.

Children
5/27/2010
I'm not use to having children around. I learned a great lesson today in locking the door when I go into the bathroom when children see that you go in there. And, we will leave it at that.

Time Change

I do this thing when I wake up to figure out if it is okay to text or email Brittany because of the time zone difference. If I wake up around 8 in New York then I know it will be a few hours before I can contact her.
This morning I tried doing the math but something was off. It didn't make sense. Then I realized that math was not needed as I was in SLC. It was weird.

East Coast to West Coast
Some of our clients live in California which means we have to call the West Coast occasionally. But, in doing so, we have to be strategic because of the time difference. In reality, we only have a 5 hour window to make calls.
And that is all I have to say about that.
And that is all I have to say about that.
Remember the fight I was having with the piece of mail?

Ya, a few days after I resent it (don't worry, it didn't come back) I realized something. It was meant for us. It was a credit card statement for an employee of one of our new clients and I completely spaced that was her name.
Oops.

I don't usually pay attention to the commercials during the programming at the gym. But today I got distracted by a MasterCard MarketPlace commercial in which a guy rolls down a hill (which apparently is priceless) and needs to see a chiropractor ($200.00).
Oh, Kirby Heyborne. You even made it to New York!

There is a Comfort Inn next door to my apartment which means there is a lot of traffic out front in the mornings. It is not uncommon to see people looking at subway maps or standing and trying to figure out which way they are going to go. What I haven't experienced is people standing and looking up at a building saying, "do you think he is going to jump?" They had spotted one of the naked statues at the top of a building.
I assured them that he wasn't going to jump. He only does it for attention.

Favorite thing about spring in New York
Today in Relief Society we were all asked to say our name and our favorite thing about New York in the spring. What I said was getting out and exploring the city. What I really wanted to say, however, was the lack of humidity. I'm starting to get really nervous...
Stuck in an elevator
5/14/2010
I went to a party tonight. I got stuck in an elevator with 12 other people. What else do you do for an hour? You take pictures of course!
The walls are glass and metal so you can see that the elevator got quite warm. Warm enough to play tic-tac-toe.
The video of the night can be found on my facebook page.

Charlotte Lucas pretty much sums up my life

I'm 27-years-old. I have no money and no prospects. I'm already a burden to my parents.

Please adhere to the following guidelines if you happen to arrive home at 1 am and find the door bolted shut, which you naturally do not have a key for:
1 - Make sure your phone has not died.
2 - Knock loud enough so that your roommate will wake up to open the door.
3 – Once you do discover that your phone has died AND that you cannot knock loud enough to wake your roomate, chase after your friend in hopes that he has not found a taxi so that you can use his phone to call your roommate.
4 – Pray that your roomate left her phone on.
5 – Return home at 2 am to an unlocked door.
Side note: Next time, when initially trying to open the door, actually push. What probably happened is that your roommate DID NOT actually bolt the door. The door simply was stuck. You should try pushing harder in the future.
Conclusion - This is why I live with a roommate that has common sense.

3/3
All papers are now complete. The future looks bright. At least until around October.
Also, it was good that I turned in my paper today and not yesterday. Walking by Keifer Sutherland made it worth the procrastination.

The wind was crazy today. The buildings can create crazy wind-tunnels. Even though I was wearing glasses, I still got stuff in my eyes. It was crazy. I'm just glad I wasn't wearing a dress. Like some people I know.

Today is Saturday. I mean, Friday.

I didn't have class, work, or any papers due today so I treated it as a Saturday. And I thought it was Saturday. So, consider my surprise when I realized that I still had a Saturday.

Scotland meets NYC
Cinco de Mayo, 2010
You hear a lot of musicians playing around the city, most of the time for money. I was surprised, though, when walking to work that I heard a bagpipe. It was a first for me. Hopefully not the last time.
K, so the picture is terrible, I know. I was walking and taking the picture. Plus, the sun was shining on the screen so I couldn't frame it right. But, you will see the bagpiper in the top left corner. The "dude" right in front of him is one of the many naked statues found around the area.

1 down...
2 to go. Well, I still have to turn in the 1st paper but I'll do that in the morning. Hopefully the printer will work and the Subway will not be shut down for construction...

The displeasure of writing papers
When writing papers for school I generally migrate for new scenery. This can involve migrating from my house, to the park, to Starbucks. Or, it can be moving from various locations in the park. Or even from the table to the couch, to my bed and back to the table.
I also email myself drafts of my papers because I don't trust my computer.

Things always happens in threes...

1) I was being stupid and decided to drink a drink syrup without diluting it with water. I literally was choking.
2) While walking to the park I tripped and fell UP the stairs. I now have a nasty bruise on my knee and my toenail broke.
3) I can't decide if the third is that my computer chipped or the humidity of New York.
Regardless, it wasn't really my weekend.
